Animal Control, a unit of the Police Department, is responsible for the safety of citizens regarding domestic animals, wildlife, and livestock. Services provided include rabies prevention, investigating animal bites, educating the public on responsible pet ownership, adoption of animals, and housing/caring for stray and unwanted animals. Animal Control offers tours of the animal shelter, presentations to schools, civic groups, nursing homes, day care centers or any other organization by appointment. The shelter welcomes volunteers who would like to assist in the day-to-day care of the animals. An average of fifty (50) volunteers donate their time at the shelter per month. Please contact the shelter if you would like to volunteer. The rabies vaccination certificate along with the proper fee can be mailed to the Animal Shelter or brought in and will be done while you wait. |
